“공자는 『논어』에서 ‘근자열 원자래(近者說遠者來)’라는 말을 남겼습니다. 현대 시각으로 보면 ‘한 지역 주민을 행복하게 하면 먼 곳 사람들이 그 지역 주민을 부러워하며 스스로 찾아오게 된다’라는 뜻으로 새길 수 있겠죠. 21세기에도 적용 가능한 지방자치·지역경영의 핵심이 아닐까요?”

　대통령 직속 지방자치발전위원회 위원인 강형기(62) 충북대 교수(행정학)의 말이다. 공자로부터 지방자치·지역경영의 지혜를 읽은 강 교수의 저서 『논어의 자치학』(비봉출판사)이 최근 중국 베이징대 출판사에서 『오래된 미래의 길(那久遠的未來之路)』이라는 제목으로 번역·출간됐다. 베이징대 출판사에서 외국인의 공자 관련 책을 펴낸 것은 이례적이다. 다음은 일문일답.

　- 공자로부터 현대 지역경영의 지혜를 빌려온 데 대한 중국 반응은 어떤가.

　“베이징대 출판사는 최근 베이징 국빈관인 댜오위타이(釣魚臺)에 유학계 원로인 왕쑨(錢遜) 국제유학연합회 부회장, 왕지에(王傑) 중공중앙당교 교수, 푸용쥐(傳永緊) 취푸(曲阜)사범대 총장, 박근혜 대통령 자서전을 번역한 싱리쥐(邢麗菊) 푸단(復旦)대 한국연구센터 부소장 등 공자, 철학, 사상, 한·중 관계 전문가를 모아 ‘21세기 공자와 지도자의 자세’ 한·중 심포지엄을 열었다. 여기에 참석해 공자 사상을 현대 행정·지역경영·소통 등에 적용한 연구와 경험을 이제 중국으로 역수출할 가능성을 엿보고 왔다.”

　- 왜 베이징대에서 큰 관심을 보였을까.

　“공자는 ‘견리사의(見利思義·눈앞에 이익을 보거든 먼저 그것을 취함이 의리에 합당한지를 생각하라는 뜻)’를 강조했다. 나는 저서에서 ‘국민의 과잉 물욕과 지도자의 부패를 견리사의로 해결하자’라고 강조했다. ‘부패와의 전쟁’을 치르는 중국 입장에서 이런 충고가 눈에 들어왔을 수 있겠다.”

　- 어떻게 공자 사상을 지자체 경영에 응용할 생각을 하게 됐나.

　“몇 년 전 『논어』를 공부하다 행정학자 입장에서 반하게 됐다. 국가·지역을 경영하는 지혜가 넘쳤기 때문이다. 특히 ‘한 지방을 관리할 책임을 졌다면 1년 안에 기반을 잡고 3년 안에 실적을 올려야 한다(苟有用我者 期月而己可也 三年有成)’라는 구절에 눈길이 갔다. 임기가 4년이라 3년 안에 가시적인 성과를 내지 못하면 차기가 보장되지 않는 한국 지자체 단체장들의 상황과 일맥상통해서다. 그래서 공자 사상을 지자체 경영과 접목하는 연구를 하게 됐다. 저서는 오랜 연구의 결실이다.”

　- 한국 지자체 단체장들이 공자에게서 배워야할 가장 큰 지혜가 무엇일까.

　“공자는 정치의 기본을 묻는 질문에 ‘이름부터 바로잡아야 한다(必也 正名乎)’라고 답했다. 한 지역의 단체장은 우선 자신의 역할과 사명이 무엇인지부터 인식하고 그 지역이 추구해야 할 발전 목표와 비전을 세운 다음 이를 공직자와 시민이 공감하고 공유하도록 노력해야 한다는 뜻으로 새길 수 있다. 오늘날에도 손색없는 지방자치의 핵심이다.”

Japan is famous for their hot springs which help restore vitality, health and leave you with a smooth complexion. Maybe that's why Japanese girls have such beautiful skin! My favourite place in Tokyo by far is Ooedo Onsen Monogatari in Odaiba. It's a hot spring theme park where you can stay overnight or spend the whole day in to bathe, relax and eat.

 

There are a number of ways to access Ooedo hot springs. The official website provides in detail access information in English, Chinese, Korean and of course in Japanese.

 First thing that you have to do in the theme park is take our shoes off and store them in a locker. 

At the counter, the clerk gives you a tag that you slip around your wrist. This tag gets beeped whenever you purchase food, drinks or have a massage so you don't have to carry anything around on you. The general admission fee for adults is 1,980 yen but there are different rates depending what time of the day you go. Admission fee, meals, massages or any extra activities are paid for at the end when you leave. Again, they keep track of all of this with your tag. We were wowed by what a smart system it was. In fact, we felt a bit stupid as we tried to pay in cash but the waiter asked us to just hold out our wrists. Do not repeat the same mistake that we made.

At first I was a bit trepidatious about baring my naked body to women I didn't know and to my bestie, but it's so normal to everyone that you start feeling slightly more comfortable.Within the big food halls, you can walk around in the kimonos provided by Oedo Onsen. There's definitely a festival feel in the air. I felt like I was in a Matsuri (Japanese festival).

"At Ooedo-Onsen-Monogatari, “Ooedo-Onsen” and “Kogane-no-Yu” are baths filled with 100% natural hot-spring water pumped from 1,400 meters underground. Bathing in these waters, composed mainly of sodium and chlorine ions, as well as calcium, magnesium ions and other elements, leaves a film on the skin that is gradually absorbed, which has many healthful effects and makes bathers feel pleasantly warmed. It feels like such a different world inside the theme park. As soon as you step in, you feel like you're not in Tokyo anymore. It's like you've been transported to a whole different place that's quieter, more peaceful and tranquil. It's definitely a place to relax and get away from the busy bustle of Tokyo city. Soaking your tired body in a bath of hot water which has healing properties; what better way than hat to end your holiday?

Oedo Onsen Monogatari (official site) is an "onsen amusement park" in Tokyo. I've lived in Tokyo for over a year, and I can say that this is now one of my favorite spots.

Japanese onsens (hot spring baths) are one of the most relaxing experiences. Many of the "real onsens" however, are often a bunch of old guys huddled in a dark puddle of water. So, I actually prefer the more "commercialized" approach of Oedo Onsen Monogatari. Certainly, they do have a real onsen (with mineral water pumped from underground), but they also make the experience a whole lot more fun. One quickly realizes that you can only sit in an onsen for so long before wanting to do something else - like eat ice cream or grab a beer.

There are many fun baths like:
- A real onsen with mineral water pumped up from underground.
- Outdoor onsen
- Jacuzzi-style onsen you can sleep in.
- Foot onsen, resemebling a creek outside.

They also have various other baths that they charge for like a "sand bath," the "fish bath" where fish eat dead skin off your feet, "stone slab bath," and others. I didn't find these necessary though.

Oedo Onsen Monogatari is in the Odaiba area, and costs from 2000 yen to 2900 yen for entrance, depending on whether you go after 6pm or before. I spent the day touring Odaiba, and then walked to Oedo Onsen Monogatari at 6pm for the discounted rate. The place is next to the Telecom Center station, on the Yurikamome train line.

요약2	As the concept of space design changes with the development of techniques, the focus of design is shifting from outdoor behavior. Therefore, design methodology as well as design process should be flexible to meet the user requirement. Unlike the existing exhibition space, ubiquitous exhibition space encourages users to interact with it, and from this interaction, many different situations of storytelling can be made. Also the space takes different to prepare multilateral scenarios in setting the design direction. This study understands the environmental value of exhibition space as an unique entertaining place for maximizing one's experience, and tries to find out design approaches for our space to encourage active participation. Types of experience exhibitions we looked into so far can affect each other, constructing their environments through inter-communications between their media and making time and space integrated in them. Especially the results from experiments in each space are divided into virtual and physical images, which are delivered in various meanings according to experiences. In other words, these meanings appear as specific forms while delivered in virtual images such as visual messages. Therefore, the changing meanings of exhibitions show themselves as a means of expression, by means of space and time. For the design of such exhibition space, it is required to make plans for user experiences. At the same time, it is needed to process a smooth installation responding to interactive environments and user actions in order to be adaptable for changeability of user experiences.
